Our area of expertise lies at the intersection of general medicine and psychiatry in both inpatient and outpatient medical settings.
At the request of the treating medical team, we see individuals with co-occurring conditions. We evaluate clients with medical disorders that contribute to or worsen behavioral or mental health issues, such as delirium. We support the care of individuals with mental illnesses who are admitted for medical problems.
We assist with assessment of the capacity of a client to consent to treatment.
We support the assessment of clients who may report physical symptoms because of mental disorders or who have physical symptoms that are not explained by medicine.
We evaluate clients who may not have a psychiatric disorder but are experiencing distress related to their medical problems, evaluation of clients who have attempted suicide or self-arm and finally assisting with the diagnosis, treatment, and functional assessment of people with dementia including advice on discharge planning or the need for long-term care.
